Service Your Gear Now!

This is the time of year to start getting your gear into your diveshop for service.

Here are some guidelines for when your gear should be serviced

¨      Regulators are to be serviced EVERY year – regardless how many times you used it

¨      Buoyancy Compensator with no alternate air source every 2-3 years

¨      Buoyancy Compensator with an alternate air source every year).

¨      Tanks – Visually inspected every year

¨      Tanks – Hydrotested every five years

¨      Tank Valves – rebuild every 1-3 years

¨      Check Drysuits for seals to be replaced

¨      Check batteries in your dive computers

¨      Check lights for corrosion on terminals

¨      Make sure your fin and mask straps are not dried and cracked

¨      Fill your tanks fresh!  Never dive with old air.  In steel tanks the stale air can lower the oxygen content during the corrosion process leading to potential blackout!

Underwater Hockey

Starting in February

The Aqua Center has set up an underwater hockey night at the YMCA pool in West Wareham. If you have not seen it, the West Wareham YMCA is a beautiful new facility. The pool has a  7' max deep end which is perfect for hockey.

  • Registration based program, you must sign up for the program to play.
  • Sunday Nights Starting in February 6 to 8 PM
  • Sign up for 7 weeks ($55.00 sign up fee).
  • The program would renew every 8 weeks over the winter.
  • This will be an adult game, 18+, mask snorkel fins only, no scuba gear

If you have never played UW Hockey, its a fun game, and great way to stay in "dive shape" over the winter...!

If you would like to sign up, or would like more information, please email Greg at AQCenter@aol.com or 508-888-3444

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO TRY SCUBA?

Let us know!  The Dive Locker has made an arrangement with us over the winter to let people experience a little scuba for free!

This is done every month!

This will be done in a heated pool over the winter months.  It is great if you or you know someone who thinks they may be interested in scuba diving.  They will get to experience some of the gear and actually swim and breather underwater!

Please contact Jodi if you want to do this or just have quesitons!
